people...

I pride myself in being an individual
Yet i look around and wonder who you perceive me to be
Always so concerned about what you think
I watch you and you watch me
Always alert of each others behaviors

What is this facade?
This pretense that i don't care and you don't care
I value you so intensely
So why the underlying judgment
Where can we turn where no one is looking
No one is observing

We are all watching, out of the corner of our eyes we see everything
We pretend like we don't...
Why do we people watch

We walk around like we are the only ones in existence
Yet there are billions of us.
Like little ants we move around in our own worlds
Unconcerned for those around us

Oh we watch, but we ignore
We see but we do nothing
There is pain, but we have enough pain in our lives..
When does their pain become our pain.

We like to think we reach out, but really we focus only on ourselves.
It is always about me, me, me
Is there really any such thing as being un-selfish?

That kind smile may mean something, but a genuine interest
May mean more....
How are you? Fine thanks?
what a ridiculous question and an equally ridiculous answer..
really.... how are you...?
are we ever fine, and do we really care how they are?

Time, yes none of us have enough of it, but when do we stop to invest in their lives?
When does time stop for them, or for us...
we can stop it, if we just take a moment to breathe
while we breathe invest in someone other than ourselves

in a world all about me, me, me
there are billions of us who think its about me,
when will it finally be about you? all about you!!
